Q:What do WEEE, EEE and RoHS stand for?

  • EEE = Electronic and Electrical Equipment
    The work studying the increasing use of environmentally friendly materials reducing landfill.
  • WEEE = Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment
    The directive that will control the disposal of Equipment and the percentage going to landfill.
  • RoHS = Restricting the use of Hazardous Substances
    The directive that will control the use of hazardous substances during manufacture.

Q:Does WEEE apply to all electrical goods?

  • The WEEE legislation covers all large and small household appliances, IT equipment, radio and audio equipment, electrical tools and telecommunications equipment

Q:Do we collect anything but IT hardware?

  • RecyleMyIT.com specialises in the removal of IT equipement, however in accordance to the quantity of items we are collecting, we do allow leverage for a few non IT related items

Q:What are the requirements of the directive?

  • Separate collection of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment from households and businesses
  • Producers do not have to collect themselves but must have 'End of life' plans for all products and finance the treatment and recovery of WEEE
  • Recovery and recycling to set targets
  • Retailers to offer free take back working with the producers
  • Accurate records to show the effect of the recycling programmes

Q:Whose responsibility is it to ensure the goods are disposed of in accordance with the legislation?

  • The producer or importer of the goods is responsible for their disposal in line with the WEEE guidelines when they come into place. However if the stock was supplied before the date stated in the WEEE directive it is the consumers responsiblity.

Q:What happens to the IT equipment collected?

  • All equipment is recycled in compliance with WEEE, RoHS and ISO 9001 standards.

Q:How would I be sure of security of data?

  • The hard drives are cleared of all data, with various levels of security available to customers. The highest of which is drive shredding where hard drives are completely destroyed in compliance with the highest of DOD standards, this includes . Moreover, we provide 100% security as it is done in house by a team of experts.

Q:How would I be sure that my company is meeting all the computer disposal legislation?

  • We are fully compliant with the WEEE, RoHS and IS0 9001 standards. On removal of your equipment, we will issue a certificate of compliance and data security. If the drive destruction option is chosen a further certificate will be issued post - destruction to ensure 100% data security.
